A group calling themselves Baphalane Concerned Residents, today (28 July 2017) delivered a memorandum to the Ministry for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA).

The group indicated that after fruitless consultations with all role-players in Bokone Bophirima Province on the matter of traditional leadership of Baphalane ba Ramokoka, they were advised to approach CoGTA.

The main demand of the group is that a report compiled by the Commission on Traditional Leadership and Claims be released. The Commission investigated the traditional leadership dispute and claim of Baphalane in 2013 and released a report in 2014, which is yet to be made public.

CoGTA made a commitment to revert back to the group within seven days as per their request.

CoGTA will through the Department of Traditional continue to work with all role players to deal with issues raised by the group, especially the Provincial government of Bokone Bophirima.
