Minister van Rooyen welcomes the new Director General for the Department of Traditional Affairs (DTA). “I am pleased to welcome Mr Mashwahle Diphofa to the CoGTA family and I believe that his wealth of experience will strengthen the Department’s mandate guided by our constitution and other key legal documentsâ€, said Minister van Rooyen.
A lot of work has so far been done to harmonize the institution and the work of traditional leaders including the process of legally affirming and recognizing the sector as per the Constitution of our country. We wish him well as he begins to focus on unleashing the potential of this important sector to contribute to the development of our country. “I have no doubt that the Department will under his leadership continue to reach greater heights.
Mr Diphofa Diphofa begins his new term as the Director General of the DTA from 01 February 2018 and we believe that his appointment is significant for the DTA which had a very committed and talented Director-General in Dr Charles Nwaila who begun his retirement today (01 February 2018) after 42 years of dedicated service to the people of South Africa. We are therefore convinced that Mr Diphofa’s appointment bodes well for the department’s future.â€
In conclusion, Minister van Rooyen committed that the entire CoGTA will give the new DG all the support and hope that his leadership will also play a central role
in steering the Department towards compliance, improved performance and good corporate governance,
