Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Andries Nel, will on Thursday, 03 May 2018, host the Urban Sector Donors Gala Dinner for Ambassadors, Heads of missions and Heads of Country’s International Agencies on the Integrated Urban Development Framework (IUDF). A number of international institutions and countries are potential Donors who supports the implementation of the IUDF.
The International Donor Community has been supportive of government’s development agenda and their ongoing contribution is starting to yield positive results. It is therefore, in the same context that, Deputy Minister Nel will convene a gala dinner in celebration of the advances made in urban development by the International Donor Community (Embassies and Agencies). This dinner follows a number of engagements with various International Institutions in the urban sector in an effort to mobilise additional resources in order to accelerate the implementation of the IUDF.
The IUDF is a response to our urbanisation trends and the directive by the National Development Plan (NDP) to develop an urban development policy that will cater for the increasing numbers by ensuring proper planning and necessary infrastructure to support this growth. To this effect, a number of current government programmes implemented are aligned to the IUDF levers such as the Mining Towns Programme, City Support Programme, Intermediate Cities Programme and the Small Town’s Regeneration Programme.
Members of the media are invited to attend the dinner as follows:
- Date: 03 May 2018
- Time: 15H00
- Venue: Freedom Park, Pretoria (koch st & 7th avenue, salvokop, Pretoria, 0002.).
