On Friday, 8 June 2017, the Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs #COGTA Obed Bapela delivered a key note address at the research seminar on opportunities and challenges of China-Africa Industrialisation Cooperation.
Deputy Minister Bapela emphasised the significance of the implementation of Special Economic Zones Programme and its impact on South Africa’s capabilities to manage rapid urbanisation.
Addressing the delegates, the Deputy Minister explored linkages between the Back to Basics, Integrated Urban Development Framework as well as the Agrarian Revolution Programme.
Deputy Minister Bapela concluded by inviting China to take keen interest in the Agrarian Revolution programme that will be launched later this year. “We are gearing ourselves for this important milestone that bodes well for South Africa’s food production and economic development.”
