The aim of this newly established unit is to develop systems that will enhance knowledge generation and sharing amongst all key stakeholders as basic precepts for effective, innovative intervention, support and development efforts with municipalities and provinces. It will also focus on supporting provinces and municipalities to enable the collection of useful data that can be utilised for planning and research purposes. The programme also focuses on providing records management services to ensure preservation of corporate memory and heritage as well as ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements for information management.
