As we mark the 1st Anniversary of the Local Government Turnaround Strategy(2nd December)and the 10th Anniversary of Democratic Local Government(5th December, the CoGTA Minister, Sicelo Shiceka cordially invites members of the Media to a Briefing on discussions that will take place tomorrow at the last CoGTA MinMEC for 2010.
Discussions at this MinMEC will include:
● A presentation and discussion on the Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on Coordinated Oversight on Service Delivery by the Chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs
● The Municipal spending on the MIG in the 2009-2010 Financial Year
● Cross-boundary issues
● Progress towards the 2011 Local Government elections
The Briefing will further include the following:
● An announcement of the new Commission on Traditional Leadership Claims and Disputes (replacing what was popularly known as the "Nhlapo Commission")
