Ministers Dlamini Zuma and Mthembu Undertake a Joint District…
The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and Minister in the Presidency, Mr Jackson Mthembu will undertake a joint District Development Model (DDM) working visit to the Harry Gwala District Municipality from tomorrow, Monday 12 October 2020. The Ministers will be accompanied by the MEC of CoGTA in KZN, Mr Sipho Hlomuka in his capacity as the district champion from Provincial government.
During their working visit, Minister Dlamini Zuma and Minister Mthembu will interact with members of the executive from provincial and local government as well as the strategic stakeholders including the district traditional leadership on issues pertaining to cooperative governance and the implementation of the DDM in particular.
The visit from 12 – 15 October 2020, gives practical expression to section 154 of the Constitution which directs that national and provincial government must support and strengthen the capacity of municipalities to manage their own affairs and perform their functions.
The DDM working visit will primarily comprise of infrastructure assessment exercises, multilateral engagements with targeted stakeholders and the inaugural meeting of the District Development Forum, signifying a milestone in the developmental trajectory of Harry Gwala which is premised on exploiting the district’s endowment for a reimagined shared long-term vision of the district’s development trajectory.
