Minister Mkhize to Meet with Gauteng MECs for COGTA and Finance on Distressed Municipalities

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Dr Zweli Mkhize, will meet with the Gauteng COGTA and Human Settlements MEC Dikgang Moiloa; and Finance MEC Barbara Creecy this Friday, 13 July 2018 at CoGTA Pretoria offices to discuss support and interventions to distressed municipalities in the province as part of the Back to Basics programme.
The discussions will focus on various challeneges facing Emfuleni, Mogale City, Merafong and Rand West municipalities. The minister will also look into the upper limits for the remuneration of senior municipal officials in the province; management of municipal grants for infrustructure and human settlements; treaditional leadership disputes; and powers and functions of district municipalities.
The minister and the MECs will interact with the media at the end of their meeting  as follows:
