Minister Dlamini Zuma Convenes the CoGTA MINMEC Meeting

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will tomorrow, 19 June 2019 convene the CoGTA MINMEC meeting.

The meeting is the first since the new CoGTA leadership came into office following 08 May elections. This meeting will afford the new CoGTA leadership of Deputy Ministers and MEC’s led by Minister Dlamini Zuma an opportunity to discuss, co-ordinate and align programmes under this important portfolio at the National and Provincial spheres of government.

The meeting comes at the time when municipalities are called upon to improve service delivery to communities they serve. To this effect, the meeting will look at efforts already underway to strengthen and turn around distressed and dysfunctional municipalities.

The MinMec meeting will discuss and consider the following:

* Issues around the traditional leadership sector.
*Report on the Municipal Infrastructure Grant expenditure and other infrastructure grants.
*Consolidated provincial report on the coordination and integrated service delivery approach and projects in the 57 municipalities.
* MFMA Municipal Cost Containment Regulations
*Status of Disaster Management System in the country and update on drought conditions and intervention measures.
