Deputy Minister Obed Bapela Visits Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in his Capacity as DDM Champion

The Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Obed Bapela, will visit the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in his capacity as the District Champion.
 
President Ramaphosa deployed Ministers and Deputy Ministers as champions to work with various districts as per for the District Development Model (DDM). The DDM seeks to integrate development planning within various districts.
 
The DDM will also be used as an intergovernmental vehicle for integrated and coordinated implementation of all of the government Covid-19 and GBVF Response Plans in 52 District spaces.
 
The visit was as a result of the report by Provincial Command Council which dictated that Mahikeng, in particular, is leading in the 
number of GBV in the whole Province since the declaration of the State of Disaster on COVID-19. 
 
The visit aims to give impetus to the province and district’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus, whilst maintaining a delicate balance of saving lives’ and protecting livelihoods of communities.
 
The visit will be part of building social compacts with clear developmental commitments and participation in the District Command Council meeting to leverage opportunities and mitigate challenges in the district.
