A new coronavirus was identified in China associated with an outbreak of pneumonia. This virus is the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), which has resulted in a number of deaths.
The Department of Health has world-class surveillance systems in place to rapidly identify and detect any cases in the country. This includes the screening and monitoring of anyone with a relevant travel history and close contacts with the affected areas.
