The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will visit the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality to address issues raised by the community through its representatives.

The Minister will be accompanied by DM Thembi Nkadimeng and the MEC Zolile Williams.

As part of these engagements, the Minister will also meet other stakeholders, including the Traditional Leaders, Religious Leaders and the Business Community.

The municipality has been identified as a financially distressed municipality and is currently placed under intervention in terms of Section 139 (1) and (5) of the Constitution.

The intervention started in 2018 and was reviewed in March 2020. As part of the intervention, there is a Court Order that demands the Provincial COGTA to submit quarterly reports on the implementation of Financial Recovery Plan.
