Born in KwaMashu township, Ambassador Nomusa Dube-Ncube made history on 10 August 2022 when she was sworn-in as the first woman Premier of KwaZulu-Natal since the political developments that gave birth to South Africa’s democratic dispensation in 1994.
Premier Dube-Ncube is an activist of the African National Congress (ANC), a daughter, wife, and mother whose passion lies in honouring the contribution of women towards nation-building and the country’s transformative agenda.
Prior to her deployment as Premier, Dube-Ncube was the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Finance Portfolio in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.
She was previously MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) in the province between May 2019 and November 2020. Premier Dube-Ncube also served as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs for two terms between 2009 and 2019.
The BRICS Urbanisation Forum is working towards building productive and sustainable urban economies and livelihood survival strategies in urban environments as well as creating inclusive urban spaces.
