Born in KwaMashu township, Ambassador Nomusa Dube-Ncube made history on 10 August 2022 when she was sworn-in as the first woman Premier of KwaZulu-Natal since the political developments that gave birth to South Africa’s democratic dispensation in 1994.
Premier Dube-Ncube is an activist of the African National Congress (ANC), a daughter, wife, and mother whose passion lies in honouring the contribution of women towards nation-building and the country’s transformative agenda.
Prior to her deployment as Premier, Dube-Ncube was the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Finance Portfolio in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.
She was previously MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) in the province between May 2019 and November 2020. Premier Dube-Ncube also served as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs for two terms between 2009 and 2019.
