The Chairperson of the National House of Tratitional and Khoi-San Leaders has officially opened the XIVIJO, highlighting the purpose of the gathering hosted in Mangaung; Free State Province.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile is in attendance. The Deputy President is joined by Minister Thembi Nkadimeng and Deputy Minister Prince Zolile Burns-Ncamashe of CoGTA as well as Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu and Premier Mxolisi Dukwana. Also participating in the Xivijo are MECs of the Traditional Affairs portfolio as well as the Deputy Chairperson Nkosi Mavuso and chairpersons of the provincial and local houses. The Xivijo follows several engagements with government and other stakeholders on rural development and related matters. One of the key milestones was the 2017 Indaba during which commitments were made, to propel the institution to its full and meaningful contribution to rural development.
As the XIVIJO begins, the common vision amongst the speakers is for this engagement to result in tangible outcomes for Traditional Communities.
