The Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Mr. Parks Tau will participate in the Progressive Citizens Forum (PCF) Sekhukhune Water, Women and Human Rights Celebration, to be held at Groblersdal, Sekhukhune District Municipality.

The event organised by the PCF will be celebrating a trio of world civic iconic days in the month of March 2024 coinciding with the 3rd decade of Freedom and Democracy in South Africa.  The iconic days are the World Water Week 1 – 3 March, the International Women’s Day 8th March and the National Human Rights Day 21st March.

The objective of the celebration is to highlight Water as a Human Right and as essential for Sustainable Development. The event will also profile Women Leadership in the District Development Model to unlock local economies and specifically in the Sekhukhune District.

As a Forum, the PCF strives to promote social cohesion by creating a platform for the leaders in government and business to contribute towards shaping the national policies, influence the national discourse and stimulate economic growth through regular robust dialogues.

During this occasion, Deputy Minister Parks Tau as the District Development Model (DDM) Champion for Sekhukhune District, will provide an overview of the objectives and progress made on the DDM in South Africa, and particularly the Sekhukhune District.
