Minister Hlabisa Convenes the Imtt on Ethekwini Ddm Presidential Imbizo to Assess the State of Readiness

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Velenkosini Hlabisa earlier today convened the Inter-Ministerial Task Team District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will undertake DDM Presidential Imbizo at the UMnini Sportfield, Ward 98, Umgababa in eThekwini on 8th November 2024.

In attendance at the Imbizo will be Ministers; Premier; Deputy Ministers; MECs; Mayors; Councillors as well as the traditional leaders.

The Inter-Ministerial Meeting received reports on the state of readiness ahead of the Presidential Imbizo. The meeting was apprised on the state of the province and metro in respect of the socio-economic profile and delivery of services among others. The various reports were discussed and the leadership collective from the three spheres provided guidance and advice on the preparations, to ensure that the Imbizo achieves its objectives.

Held under the theme: “Enhancing cooperative governance and integrated delivery”, the DDM Presidential Imbizo is an important public participation platform that ensures the voices and perspectives of communities are heard to advance a participatory democracy. In addition, it brings government closer to the people by ensuring that they can engage directly with communities and enhances active citizenry to build better communities.

The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) will host its annual Government Exhibition Day (GED) on Wednesday, the 6th of November 2024 in Umgababa, UMnini Thusong Centre. The exhibition will provide access to essential
services such as:

▪ Department of Home Affairs: Assistance with ID issuance, birth certificate registration and other identity-related services.
▪ Department of Labour: Consultation on labour related matters.
▪ SASSA: Registration for grants, including social grants and enquiries on grantsin-aid.
