The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Mr. Velenkosini Hlabisa, will meet with the National House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders (NHTKL) in an engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and addressing key issues raised by traditional leaders.
This meeting highlights government’s recognition of traditional and Khoi-San leaders as custodians of heritage and culture, playing an important role in promoting national identity, unity, and pride. The engagement is part of ongoing work by the Inter-Ministerial Task Team (IMTT) established by President Cyril Ramaphosa, chaired by Deputy President Paul Mashatile.
The IMTT works to address matters raised by Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders, ensuring their voices and concerns are heard and addressed comprehensively. Cabinet Ministers who are part of the IMTT will also participate, providing feedback on their respective areas of responsibility and sharing progress on issues raised.
This strategic dialogue will focus on consolidating efforts and fostering solutions to enhance the role and impact of traditional leadership in nation-building.Details of the Minister’s engagement with the NHTKL are as follows:
