The Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Dr. Namane Dickson Masemola will deliver the keynote address at the Free State Local Government Summit 2024 hosted under the theme “Empowering Governance for Sustainable Development: Building Capacity, Fostering Innovation and Strengthening Partnerships”.

The summit is aimed at achieving the following objectives:
• To review and assess the performance of municipalities in the Free State.
• To Strengthen Cooperative Governance by aligning National, Provincial, District and Local priorities.
• To strengthen partnerships between municipalities and key stakeholders including sector departments, traditional leaders and private sector entities.
• To promote sharing of best practices and innovative governance models that improve local government efficiency and accountability.

The summit will bring together all municipalities in the province and key stakeholders as well as partners to assess municipal performance, governance and service delivery.
