Minister Hlabisa to Attend the Commemoration of the Battle of Isandlwana in KZN

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Velenkosini Hlabisa, will attend the commemoration of the battle of Isandlwana to be held on 22 January 2025, at Isandlwana Precinct in Kwa Zulu Natal.

Minister will join His Majesty, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, the Premier of the Province of KZN, the entire political and traditional leadership in commemorating 146 years of the Battle of Isandlwana.

The Battle of Isandlwana took place on 22 January 1879 and is known as one of the major encounters in the Anglo-Zulu War between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom.

The Battle of Isandlwana is commemorated annually in honor of those who fought in this battle. In addition, the commemoration event celebrates the courage and bravery that today defines South Africans. It is also a reminder of the historical significance of the battle and its place in the history of the Zulu nation.

The bravery and sacrifice that many South Africans made, including in the battle Isandlwana, contributed to the freedom and democracy we enjoy today.

Minister reiterated the importance of celebrating and educating the youth about such important epoch changing historical events.
