The Deputy Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Dr. Namane Dickson Masemola will undertake an official visit to East London in the Eastern Cape’s Buffalo City Metro Municipality on 11 November 2025 to participate in the crucial Provincial Political MuniMEC Forum.
The Forum will see DM Masemola, providing an update on the Review of the White Paper on Local Government.
The strategic realignment of local government to better fulfil its constitutional purpose will be the main topic of his address.
In order to address urgent service delivery issues within local government, the Forum functions as a strategic intergovernmental platform. It seeks to promote cogent planning and execution while also bringing together important sector departments and leaders from several branches of government.
The MuniMEC Forum is tasked with promoting the Constitution’s tenets of cooperative governance, building a cohesive government, facilitating the effective and efficient delivery of services to communities, and achieving national priorities as stated in the Intergovernmental Relations Framework Act.
