Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Dr Namane Dickson Masemola will deliver an address at the 3rd Annual Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA) Local Government Summit.
Held under the theme, “Clean Governance or Continued Crisis? – Financial Accountability and Ethical Leadership at a Crossroads in 2026,” the summit will bring together leaders from government, oversight institutions, the private sector, civil society, and the auditing, accounting and finance professions to deliberate on strengthening governance and accountability in local government.
The summit takes place at a critical time following the release of the Auditor-General South Africa’s latest consolidated report on local government audit outcomes, which highlighted persistent weaknesses in municipal financial management, governance, accountability and compliance with legislation.
