DEPUTY MINISTER MASEMOLA TO LEAD PERFORMANCE TURNAROUND OUTREACH TO STRENGTHEN MUNICIPAL SUPPORT AND SERVICE DELIVERY IN BUFFALO CITY
The Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Namane Dickson Masemola, will lead a Municipal Performance Turnaround Outreach to the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) in the Eastern Cape on Thursday, 16 July 2026.
The outreach forms part of the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs’ ongoing efforts to strengthen intergovernmental relations, assess progress in municipal support interventions, and engage municipal leadership and key stakeholders on matters relating to governance, service delivery and infrastructure development.
During the outreach, the Deputy Minister will engage the political and administrative leadership of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, including the Executive Mayor, Speaker, senior municipal officials, provincial government representatives and sector stakeholders. Discussions will focus on the state of the municipality, progress in implementing Section 154 support measures, the Municipal Turnaround Plan, Trading Services Reform, and stakeholder interventions aimed at improving municipal performance and service delivery.
The programme will include a political briefing, an engagement with the Municipal Mayoral Committee (MAYCO) and Troika, presentations on the status of the municipality, discussions on municipal support interventions, and a session dedicated to resolutions and the way forward.
